Frequently Asked Questions

Jewish Journeys now consists of three different stages:

Havurah: 3 years-Grade 2
Jewish Journey Project (JJP) 3rd-5th Grades
B-Mitzvah Journey 6th-7th Grades

When do classes meet?
All classes will meet online until the COVID public health situation passes and we can return to the JCC building. All small weekly classes and Sunday Intensives will include hands-on projects.

How is my child going to learn Hebrew?

We have developed an online program called Hebrew Homepage (HHP).Beginning in 3rd grade, each child participates in thirty-minute weekly online Hebrew sessions annually with a JJP tutor. We offer three Hebrew Homepage tracks: Learn to Read Hebrew, Reading Fluency for Prayerbook Hebrew, and Modern Hebrew. These online sessions happen in real-time and take place in the comfort of your own home. At the start of each year, parents choose a tutor and time for these sessions to take place. Hebrew Homepage is included in the tuition of both JJP and B-Mitzvah Journey participants. If a child has reading delays, there is no reason to start learning Hebrew at a young age. We work with families individually to determine the appropriate time to begin. We have also developed JJConnect an online program that offers six online Jewish units. Beginning in 3rd grade, each child receives thirty-minute weekly online JJConnect sessions too. Hebrew Homepage and JJConnect courses are included in the tuition of both JJP and B-Mitzvah Journey participants.

What is the family involvement?

Families are partners in the work that we do, coming together monthly for sing-alongs, holiday events, Shabbat dinners, and Havdalah rituals. We embrace families from all backgrounds as we cultivate a connection to Jewish values and tradition.

How do you prepare our child for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
